Holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in Physics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He currently leads the Macro Connections Group at the MIT Media Lab, and is the ABC Career Development Professor in Media, Arts, and Sciences at MIT.
Before starting the group at MIT he worked at the faculty of Government at Harvard University. Hidalgo’s work focuses on complexities and collective learning, with emphasis on countries’ economic and cultural development processes. At his MIT group he develops visual tools and data analysis to facilitate information both within and between organizations.
