Espacio Público was created in Chile in 2012 and made its public launch in August 2013. A group of independent professionals from the left center joined the think tank in order to improve debate, design and implementation of public policies in the context of the challenge faced by many countries in the last half century: moving from a small-scale economy to a per capita income that reaches a global average. Only a handful of them have had the capacity to become a truly developed country.
Espacio Público was designed to help address the challenges and issues that countries face during this process. Although the focus of our work initially was Chile, our proposals have provided valuable guidance to policymakers in other emerging economies in the region.
